TELEPHONE TAPPING IS INJURIOUS TO DEMOCRACY
The constitution of India has provided many fundamental freedoms to the citizens of the society. Every government is duty bound to protect them at all the costs. Secretly tapping the phones impinges on the very fundamental freedom. While no one would object to tapping of telephones of criminals, terrorists, smugglers, anti nationals etc, since, such tapping is in the interest of the nation, the tapping with political motives is unacceptable in a democratic society. Political phone tapping is injurious to the health of democracy. The government must own the responsibility and punish the guilty. Besides ,fool proof systems and procedures should be evolved to prevent any recurrences of such incidents in future.
